Photo Challenge: Repetition

This week’s SDAWP photo challenge was on the design element of repetition.  I had a hard time with this one.  I think it had something to do with school starting.  It was our first full week back at school, so all my focus and attention was going to that.  I did manage to take a few pictures of things that showed repetition.  The first one I took was of artwork at a local restaurant.  It was a series of three pictures, exactly the same that covered the wall of the restaurant.  I got to thinking that I better start looking around for more elements of repetition for the week’s challenge.

I think I have mentioned before that I have not been able to continue my running in the mornings before work due to a knee and ankle injury.  So, for the past few days, I have been walking instead.  I put my earphones in my iPhone and listen to my favorite music from various artists to keep me going.  The good thing about having to walk is that I can look more closely at my environment, and since I have my iPhone, I am able to take pictures along the way.  I passed this house and noticed its fence had repeating patterns.

When I got to the end of the block, I noticed this house had repeating flags in its front yard.

Further on into my walk, I saw that the white lines on the street repeated and so did the pattern on this chainlink fence.

I noticed several more things on the way home.  I also snapped a picture of my husband’s wine press in our garage before I walked into the house.

All in all, I was pretty happy with what I found for this week’s photo challenge.  I probably would not have paid much attention to these things had I been running.  Walking forces me to slow down and be aware of things around me.  I am not just focused on what is in front of me, but what is to the side of me as well.  The next challenge is based on textures.  I need to be on the look out for anything smooth.  Hmmm.  I wonder what I will find on my next walk around the neighborhood.
